AP thinks a file is downloaded when it's been deleted thus unavailable, episode duration may end up wrong in AP's interface). Otherwise it would lead to unexpected behaviour (e.g. And whichever folder is selected, the user nor any apps should be able to mess with (create/delete/change) the files - only AntennaPod. But deviating from default Android behaviour is probably complicated. Like I said: I'm not a developer so I can't tell fore sure.
Why isn't it possible to make an other folder the default download folder for AntennaPod 'that folder' refers here to Android/data, which is where the podcasts are stored. Given that we mainly focus development on recent versions (limited time, etc), I don' think this should be implemented. New Android versions don't scan that folder.
